Most Canadians pay down their mortgage

According to a new study done for the Accredited Mortgage Professionals, Canadians have two-thirds more equity in their home than Americans. The study found that on average Canadians have 72% equity in their home, compared to 43% in the United States.The study also found that Canadians are reducing the amount of equity they're taking out of their homes as well! In 2008, 22% of Canadians had accessed the equity in their home through things like lines of credit, but today that is down to only 15%!

Shades of Grey hot for '09

Beige and Browns are out and shades of grey are in for '09- this according to Sharon Grech, an interior designer from Toronto. She says: "We've been really seeing grey taking over from that beigy neutral. Grey, in turn, has helped usher in a flood of cool colours that look great paired with it, from the purples and aubergines of last fall to the blues and, especially, greens popular this spring. Be it pale avocado, brookside moss or dry sage, this all-natural shade has been so popular the past several years, it's becoming a neutral too."
